چکیده
In-plane optical anisotropy plays a critical role in manipulating light wide range of planner photonic devices. In this study, the strong multilayer 2D GeAs is leveraged and utilized to validate technical feasibility on-chip management. A stamped into an ultra-compact silicon waveguide four-way crossing optimized for operation O-optical band. The measured transmission spectra indicated remarkable discrepancy between in-plane crystal axes with attenuation ratio ∼3.5 (at 1330 nm). Additionally, effect orientation on electro-optic performance demonstrated straight waveguide. notable 50% reduction responsivity was recorded devices constructed cross direction compared a -direction parallel polarization. This extraordinary anisotropy, combined high refractive index ∼4 GeAs, opens possibilities efficient manipulation

Van der Waals interaction in uniaxial anisotropic media.
Van der Waals interactions between flat surfaces in uniaxial anisotropic media are investigated in the nonretarded limit. The main focus is the effect of nonzero tilt between the optical axis and the surface normal on the strength of the van der Waals attraction. General expressions for the van der Waals free energy are derived using the surface mode method and the transfer-matrix formalism. To...

Although group (IV-VII) nonmetallic elements do not favor interacting with anionic species, there are counterexamples including the halogen bond. Such binding is known to be related to the charge deficiency because of the adjacent atom's electron withdrawing effect, which creates σ/π-holes at the bond-ends. However, a completely opposite behavior is exhibited by N2 and O2, which have electrosta...

Developing a nanoscale, integrable, and electrically pumped single mode light source is an essential step toward on-chip optical information technologies and sensors. Here, we demonstrate nanocavity enhanced electroluminescence in van der Waals heterostructures (vdWhs) at room temperature. The vertically assembled light-emitting device uses graphene/boron nitride as top and bottom tunneling con...
متن کاملThe van der Waals interaction
The interaction between charged particles via the Coulomb interaction is one of the most important features in physics and is familiar to any student of the subject. The way in which electrons and protons bind to form the hydrogen atom is also well known and is a staple of any quantum mechanics course. However, less familiar is the interaction between such bound systems at separation R, which i...
